In the beginning, Ricky is naughty, and pissed off, and tries to make some trouble, and also wants to run away. We can tell this from the long shot that was at the beginning of the movie, it shows how Ricky was pissed off, and how naughty he was. And at the start of the movie Ricky said something that feels like he was so pissed. In the following movie, it shows that Ricky was sad by taking the close-up shot and showed Ricky's face looks so sad and confused.
As the story goes through, Rick’s mood changes, he feels excited, happy, and wants to stay with Hector (his uncle). In the middle of the movie, Ricky and Hector know that the police are coming to bring Ricky back to the police station, and try to find a new house for him, but Ricky doesn’t want to leave Hector, so they decide to run into the forest and try to hide from the police. It shows that Ricky was angry by the close-up shot that shows Ricky’s face was red and angry, It shows that Ricky was excited by the long shot that shows Ricky and Hector were ready to go, also by the taking that between Hector and Ricky.
At the end of this movie, they are finally caught following a car and helicopter chase, and Ricky accidentally shoots Hec. He gets remanded and Ricky is taken in by Kahu's family. After Hec's release from jail, Ricky, with his new foster family's permission, returns to the bush with Hec to photograph the huia, an extinct bird they had re-discovered during their time on the run. The film at the end was a long shot, it shows that Ricky and Hector were all fine, and happy, Hector was living in a large house, and Ricky was happy as well.
